SUMMARY:Joe Henderson's IN 'n OUT Performed Live @ JRAC
DESCRIPTION:JRAC presents Kabir Dalawari Quintet performing Joe Henderson’s 1965 release IN ‘N OUT Tuesday\, April 28th at Fulton Street Collective.\n\n\nThe night will also feature live painting from visual artist TBA \n \n“Joe Henderson’s third Blue Note release matches the very distinctive tenor with the veteran trumpeter Kenny Dorham and an unbeatable rhythm section: pianist McCoy Tyner\, bassist Richard Davis\, and drummer Elvin Jones. SUMMARY:John McLaughlin's 1969 release EXTRAPOLATION Performed Live @ JRAC
DESCRIPTION:Jazz Record Art Collective presents Tom McCarthy Quartet performing John McLaughlin’s 1969 release EXTRAPOLATION  Wed. April 29th at FSC\n\n\nThe night will also feature live painting from visual artist TBA. \n \n“John McLaughlin’s first recording as a leader features the future innovator playing guitar in an English quartet. Although McLaughlin contributed all ten pieces\, baritonist John Surman actually dominates this music\, often swinging quite hard. The historically significant set\, although a lesser-known item in McLaughlin’s discography\, is quite musical and enjoyable in its own right.” \n~Scott Yanow \n \nTom McCarthy – Guitar \nBrian Gephart –  Sax \nLarry Kohut – Bass \nEric Montzka – Drums \n \n7:30 Doors \n8pm Show \nFree Parking \n$15 Suggested Donation

SUMMARY:Jazz Occurrence\, Celebrating International Jazz Day Live at FSC
DESCRIPTION:FSC presents Jazz Occurrence\, International Jazz Day; featuring Arman Sangalang Quartet with 10 visual artists Thursday April 30th\n\n\nContinuing the tradition\, artist Lewis Achenbach and Fulton Street Collective will present a Jazz Occurrence (art + music) event celebrating International Jazz Day in Chicago. \nThis year\, we have the Arman Sangalang Quartet performing two sets in the center of the room\, surrounded by ten visual artists ‘capturing the frequency in the room’ in true Jazz Occurrence fashion. In the outermost circle will be the audience\, hearing and seeing the art of jazz being created in real time. \nIn concert\, there will be an art exhibition on the walls of Fulton Street Collective curated by Ryan Miller: Jazz: America’s Music. \nDoors open at 6pm \n \nThe Quartet is as follows: \nArman Sangalang- Tenor Sax \nBrandon Harper- Piano \nChristian Dillingham- Bass \nGreg Artry- Drums. \n \nVISUAL ARTISTS \nLewis AchenbachRyan MillerJohn Ross WilsonMelanie BrownJulian CamachoAlex PuryearArthur WrightJessie BurtonDale PesmenWes Douglas \n \nRESERVATIONS RECOMMENDED!!! \n \n“It started with documenting live music through an imaginative process\, but it has become much more. It now feels like a translation or an amalgam of two languages. A Jazz Occurrence is a meeting place; a tertulia of like minds. We have a dialogue about our future by using the tools of our past. This is an artistic movement. The artists from opposite banks are meeting in the rush of mid-river.” \n-Lewis Achenbach\, founder Jazz Occurrence

SUMMARY:Nicholas Krolak - PAST LIVES [Album Release Concert]
DESCRIPTION:Celebrate the release of my latest album … PAST LIVES … a once in a lifetime sonic experience awaits :)\n\n\n“Somewhere between Charles Mingus and Johnny Greenwood there is a sound that bassist/composer Nicholas Krolak seeks.” \n“A young veteran of the Philadelphia music scene. He has spent the last decade working as a side-man\, experiencing new styles\, and studying with the masters. Now\, he has taken all he has learned and is applying it to his own artistic adventures.” \n“Tracing the lineage of bebop into the contemporary\, while constantly balancing the pulse of the city and the mysticism of nature: he has been described as…” \n“a different kind of songwriter—perhaps a different kind of jazz musician altogether. He’s like the bass playing\, modern embodiment of Walt Whitman. And\, just as Whitman used his prose poems\, Krolak uses his music to celebrate and also reconcile the competing and contradictory nature of the two worlds he straddles: the natural and the urban.” \nMatt Silver – WRTI \n==================================================================== \nThis tour exists inside the world of PAST LIVES. \nIt takes shape in rooms where listening changes … where sound lingers\, attention sharpens\, and the space between notes matters. These are not ordinary nights. They unfold gradually\, shaped by the room\, the people in it\, and whatever arrives in the moment. \nNothing is rushed … \nNothing is repeated … \nThe music is allowed to breathe\, to stretch\, to move time in unfamiliar ways. What happens is shared\, fleeting\, and difficult to describe afterward … something you feel more than remember. \nIf this resonates\, you’re invited … to the WOLRD PREMIERE of PAST LIVES ! \nThere’s just one catch … tickets are limited … don’t wait … see you there ! \n  \nNicholas Krolak – bass\nMichael Hudson-Cassanova – sax\nMeghan Stagl – voice/piano\nGustava Cortinas – drums \nPhoto by Harvey Tillis \n7pm Doors\n7:30pm Show\nIn-Person Only\n$20 Suggest Donation\nFREE PARKING \n\n\n  \n
