SUMMARY:BRIDGE PERCUSSION Live at Fulton Street Collective Night 2
DESCRIPTION:Fulton Street Collective presents a performance with BRIDGE PERCUSSION on Sunday September 15th.\n\n\nThe evening will feature live painting from visual artist TBA. \n \nBridge (noun): a time\, place\, or means of connection or transition.“What began with Alex Chao’s interest in chamber music rapidly coalesced into a full-fledged production of Andy Akiho’s Seven Pillars. A Northwestern University alum\, Chao gathered fellow Chicago-based alumni to form this ensemble. Showcasing members of the percussion studio from different graduation years and diverse backgrounds\, this group acts as a bridge between past and future cohorts of Northwestern percussionists.” \nBridge (verb): make a difference between two groups smaller or less significant.“The production of Seven Pillars is equal parts challenging and rewarding. This trailblazing suite for chamber percussion requires command over the individual’s part and subsequent surrender to composite grooves. Through rigorous rehearsal\, the ensemble has developed unique coordination skills\, mastered complex rhythms\, and discovered compelling sounds in the process. Whether currently immersed in the art of percussion or now appreciating it from the periphery\, each ensemble member is determined to bridge the gap between casual commitment and professional musicianship.” \n \nLineup:Ensemble:Alex Chao\, Alan Cheng\, Finley Lau\, May Lee\, Drew McComas\, Claire McLean\, Blake Parker\, John Ringor\, Stephen Symank\, Thomas Wolff \nSoloists:May Lee\, Benjy Krauss\, Cameron Marquez\, Alex Chao \nIn collaboration with She-e Wu. \n7:30 Doors8pm ShowIn-Person Only$10 Suggest DonationFREE PARKING

SUMMARY:LIVIA GAZZOLO TRIO and JAMIE DEMENY QUARTET Live at FSC
DESCRIPTION:Fulton Street Collective presents a performance with LIVIA GAZZOLO TRIO and JAMIE DEMENY QUARTET on Tuesday\, July 30th\n\n\nThe evening will feature live painting from visual artist TBA. \n \nLivia Gazzolo is a Kurdish-American Jazz and Brazilian Tropicalia vocalist who uses Middle Eastern melisma and unique dynamics to connect Jazz\, Brazilian\, and Kurdish musical traditions. Livia aims to illustrate the connectivity of cultures through her ethereal fusion of diverse musical traditions. Livia is now producing and performing in The Silent Film Series\, a collection of shows where she performs live music with a host of incredible musicians in front of wonderfully theatrical silent films from the early 1900’s. \nJamie Demeny\, Chicago-based jazz musician and teacher\, has a distinctive musical voice that is all their own. Through the medium of tap dance\, they explore the relationship between sound and dance in a way that is steeped in tradition\, while challenging the listeners’ ideas of what a jazz band and tap dancer can be. Using their tap shoes\, James replaces the drummer in their ensembles\, plays melodies\, and improvises over song forms. Rather than the flashy extravagance of what one may expect from tap dance\, James’ concentration is on percussive improvisation that is full of musical complexity and integrity. \n \n8pm JAMIE DEMENY QUARTET \nJamie Demeny – Tap ShoesRicardo Jimenez – Trumpet \nMeghan Stagl – PianoMorgan Turner – Bass \n9:15pm LIVIA GAZZOLO TRIOLivia Gazzolo – VocalsPat Leary – PianoAlex Santilli – Drums \n7:30 Doors8pm ShowIn-Person Only$15 Suggest DonationFREE PARKING

SUMMARY:Roots Of Creativity - Art Exhibition by Lois Stone at Fulton Street Collect
DESCRIPTION:Fulton Street Collective presents Roots Of Creativity – Art Exhibition by Lois Stone on Friday\, July 19th.\n\n\nRoots of Creativity\, Purpose\, Process\, Execution \n \n\nMany believe that we are born with creativity\, an innate quality. But is it housed in the brain\, or does it originate from the heart? Where does creativity form\, and what is its purpose? In the iconic movie\, The Matrix Reloaded\, Neo understands that he must find the key maker to unlock various areas of the Matrix and save it. Upon meeting\, Neo asks\, “So you are the key maker?” The key maker replies\, “Yes\, it is my purpose.”The drive to create and express oneself—whether through visual art\, the written word\, music\, or dance—is the essence of an artist’s life.Through my abstract paintings and the voices of fellow artists\, “Purpose\, Process\, Execution” aims to inspire\, uplift\, challenge our perceptions\, and showcase the transformative power of art.@roelephantom\n\n\nRESERVATIONS RECOMMENDED: \nFulton Street Collective1821 W. SUMMARY:REMPIS-JOHNSON-HEINEMANN-CUNNINGHAM Live at FSC
DESCRIPTION:The evening will feature live painting from visual artist TBA \nRuss Johnson – trumpet\nDave Rempis – saxophones\nJakob Heinemann – bass\nJeremy Cunningham – drums \nThis working formation organized by journeyman saxophonist Dave Rempis (Ballister\, Kuzu\, Rempis Percussion Quartet) represents a cross-section of the thriving jazz and improvised music scene based out of Chicago\, whose tentacles reach out regionally to Milwaukee (Johnson) and Madison (Heinemann) as well. Rempis\, trumpeter Russ Johnson\, and drummer Jeremy Cunningham are all established leaders on their own\, bridging the spectrum between knowing how to truly swing\, and knowing how to take it just as far out. Bassist Jakob Heinemann is a young player originally from Madison who took the Chicago scene by storm since moving there several years ago. He’s now back in Madison leading the charge amongst a new generation of improvising musicians. The band started their journey with a Blustem Jazz concert in Madison in August 2021\, and they’ve continued with regular engagements in Chicago since that time\, refining their sound and chemistry into a thoughtful\, deliberate\, and unique quartet. \n7:30 Doors \n8pm Show (2 Sets) \n$15 Suggested Donation \nFREE PARKING
