SUMMARY:Joe Lovano's 1995 release QUARTETS performed live @ JRAC
DESCRIPTION:Jazz Record Art Collective celebrates its 10th Anniversary with Geof Bradfield Quartet performing Joe Lovano’s 1995 release QUARTETS\n\n\nat Fulton Street Collective on Thursday August 31st. \nThe night will also feature live painting from TBA \n \n“Named Jazz Album of the Year by readers of Downbeat Magazine\, this double CD features tenor saxophonist Joe Lovano during two appearances at the Village Vanguard recorded ten months apart. Other than the leader\, the pair of quartets are completely different and they bring out two sides of Lovano…The four Lovano originals are adventurous and all of the musicians sound as if they are stretching themselves. The second disc showcases Lovano in a more conventional quartet…n both cases\, Joe Lovano is heard in prime form\, making this an easily recommended two-fer.” \n~Scott Yanow \n \nGeof Bradfield – Tenor \nLenard Simpson – Alto \nEthan Philion – Bass \nKyle Swan – Drums \n \n7:30 Doors \n8pm Show \nFree Parking \n$15 Suggested Donation

DESCRIPTION:Fulton Street Collective in collaboration with West Town Chamber of Commerce\, presents SHAPES & SPACES Art Opening on Friday August 4th\n\n\nConsider how we interact with shapes and spaces\, and how they affect our moods and inspire us. We exist within physical space\, but also contain mental space and create social space. Our imaginations allow us to reduce space down to its basic shapes and colors\, or to transcend those shapes into infinite spaces. \nJoin us on Friday\, August 4th from 7-10 PM as we celebrate an exhibition dedicated to the shapes and spaces that go beyond mere geometry. \nCurated by Savanna Rita \nTo ensure the organic growth of West Town as Chicago’s emergent gallery district and further unite the neighborhood as a cultural destination\, please join us in our gallery on the first Friday of every month.West Town First Fridays will support and elevate similar efforts while further facilitating connection amongst Chicago’s gallerists\, artists\, collectors and patrons. With enthusiastic participation from area galleries\, First Fridays offers the potential to ensure the continued development of the West Town neighborhood as a nexus of fine art and arts development in Chicago and beyond. \nFulton Street Collective \n1821 W. SUMMARY:Cannonball Adderley's MONEY IN THE POCKET Performed Live at JRAC
DESCRIPTION:Jazz Record Art Collective presents Kyle Brooks Quintet performing CANNONBALL ADDERLEY’s 1966 release MONEY IN THE POCKET on Wed. July 19th\n\n\nThe night will also feature live painting from TBA \n \n“Money in the Pocket contains unreleased live recordings of the Cannonball Adderley Quintet at The Club in Chicago on March 19 and 20\, 1966. The only pieces officially released were edited 45-rpm single versions of “The Sticks\,” “Money in the Pocket\,” “Hear Me Talkin’ to Ya\,” and “Cannon’s Theme.” This 2005 reissue restores those tracks to their original full lengths while adding “Introduction to a Samba\,” “Requiem for a Jazz Musician\,” “Fiddler on the Roof\,” and a nice version of “Stardust.” Cannonball employed the same excellent band as heard on the Mercy\, Mercy\, Mercy! album — cornetist Nat Adderley\, keyboardist Joe Zawinul\, drummer Roy McCurdy — with the exception of bassist Herbie Lewis\, who replaced Victor Gaskin. Any Cannonball Adderley fan will want to own this.” \n~Al Campbell \n \nKyle Brooks – Alto \nConstantine Alexander – Trumpet \nNicholas Olynciw – Piano \nStephen Parisi – Bass \nKabir Dalawari – Drums \n \n7:30 Doors \n8pm Show \nFree Parking \n$15 Suggested Donation
