SUMMARY:Tim Hagans' AUDIBLE ARCHITECTURE performed live at JRAC
DESCRIPTION:Jazz Record Art Collective presents TIM HAGANS QUINTET performing his 1995 release AUDIBLE ARCHITECTURE Thursday\, November 16th at FSC\n\n\nThe night will also feature live painting from visual artist TBA. \n“Although Tim Hagans is rightly thought of as a veteran hard bop player\, his adventurous spirit has led to him playing pretty freely on this CD. The programming is quite admirable\, with three pianoless trios followed by four quartet numbers alternating with separate trumpet-bass and trumpet-drums duets before a brief unaccompanied trumpet solo closes the set…Hagans almost sounds like Don Cherry with technique…there is not a throwaway track among the ten\, with Tim Hagans in prime physical and creative form. Highly recommended.” \n~Scott Yanow \n \nTim Hagens – Trumpet/Compositions \nChad McCullough – Trumpet \nRyan Shultz – Bass Trumpet \nJon Irabagon – Sax \nDan Thatcher – Bass \nTom Hipskin – Drums \n \n7:30 Doors \n8pm Show \nFree Parking \n$15 Suggested Donation

Volumes have been written about Henderson as a soloist but\, on Big Band\, even the longest-term Henderson fan gets to hear his prodigious skills as a big band arranger for the first time.” \n~Daniel Gioffre \n \nDiego Rodriguez – Drums/Leader \n \nFeaturing: \nKevin King – Tenor Saxophone \nMarques Carroll – Trumpet \nJeremy Kahn – Piano \n \nConductor – Mike Pinto \n \nReeds: \nJohn Havrilla \nDai Kamiuchi \nArman Sangalang \nJonah Schumow \nJack Smith \n \nTrombones: \nKirby Fellis \nMatt Jarosch \nLuke Stilwell \nLuke Malewicz \n \nTrumpets: \nJohn Moore Jr. \nAnthony Izzo \nJaime Ruiz \nTim Gorman \n \nRhythm: \nConnor Sullivan – Bass \nAdam Montesantos – Guitar \n \n7:30 Doors \n8pm Show \nFree Parking \n$15 Suggested Donation

SUMMARY:Dynamic Fabric: Chicago Intersections Live at Fulton Street Collective
DESCRIPTION:Mark Nagy’s 10-movement suite celebrating historic events & local landmarks where diverse communities have met and knit the city’s character\n\n\nThe evening opens with a pre-concert Chicago History talk by Shermann “Dilla” Thomas \nThe work comprises ten movements: \nDuSable – Founding by a merchant of many identities \nChicago Fire 1871 – The rebuild by German\, Irish\, and industrial giants \nMaxwell St – The market where Jewish and Black cultures met \nStockyards – Work is what we do \nHaymarket Square – Radicals and the police \nGreat Migration– African-American blues\, gospel\, jazz \nBronzeville-Chicago’s Harlem \nPilsen – Polish-Mexican connection \nChinatown–New Home and New Life \nHumbolt Park– Puerto Rican community \nThe ensemble will consist of four musicians: guitar\, saxophone/woodwinds\, piano\, and synthesizer players\, accompanying four dancers from the Ishti Collective. Each movement is not intended to be a literal representation of its namesake\, but rather an abstract reflection or a mood generated by the movement title.
