SUMMARY:Horace Silver's THE JODY GRIND Performed Live at JRAC
DESCRIPTION:Jazz Record Art Collective presents Zack Marks Group performing Horace Silver’s 1966 release THE JODY GRIND on Tuesday\, April 4th at FSC\n\n\nThe night will also feature live painting from TBA\n \n \n“Following the subtly modern bent of much of The Cape Verdean Blues\, Horace Silver recommitted himself to his trademark “funky jazz” sound on The Jody Grind. Yet he also consciously chose to keep a superbly advanced front line\, with players like trumpeter Woody Shaw\, altoist/flutist James Spaulding\, and tenor saxophonist Tyrone Washington. Thus\, of all Silver’s groove-centered records\, The Jody Grind winds up as possibly the most challenging. SUMMARY:TRIO PROFONDO's album release MOSAIC at FSC
DESCRIPTION:Fulton Street Collective presents TRIO PROFONDO’s album release performance MOSAIC on Thursday\, March 23rd at 8pm.\n\n\nThe evening will feature live painting from visual artist TBA\n \n \n“Initially bonding over their shared Italian American heritage\, Jimmy Farace (baritone saxophone)\, Stephen Parisi (bass)\, and Paul Barrilles (drums) formed Trio Profondo. The Chicago based ensemble presents Black American Music through an uncommon and exciting instrumentation – baritone saxophone trio. Trio Profondo’s aesthetic concept revolves around the theme of depth\, as exemplified by the group’s exploration of the rich contrapuntal possibilities between baritone and bass voices. After two years of experience as a working and touring ensemble\, Trio Profondo headed to the studio to record their debut album\, Mosaic. Mosaicis a collection of original compositions from each of the members and a standard from the pen of Thelonious Monk. Ranging from themes of nostalgia\, love\, and exasperation\, all nine songs reflect upon important moments in each of the trio members’ lives. Much like the nature of Trio Profondo itself\, each track of Mosaic\, though independent in nature\, merges to create something greater than the sum of its parts.” \n \n \nTRI0 PROFONDO\n \nJimmy Farace – Saxophone\n \nStephen Parisi – Bass\n \nPaul Barrilles – Drums \n \n \n7:30 Doors\n \n8pm Show IN-PERSON ONLY\n \n$15 Suggested Donation\n \nFREE PARKING
