DESCRIPTION:FSC presents an In-Person Only concert with Dan Montgomery Quintet for the band’s CD Release on Monday\, May 9th at Palmhouse619 at 8pm\n\n\nThe evening will feature live painting from visual artist Melanie Brown \n \nThe Dan Montgomery Quintet is a jazz group founded in Miami\, Florida in 2016 that consists of five close friends who have been playing music together in various combinations for over a decade. The group features Sam Priven (alto saxophone)\, Neil Carson (tenor saxophone)\, Jake Shapiro (piano)\, Evan Hyde (drums) and Dan Montgomery (bass). The group’s extensive catalogue of music features Dan’s original compositions and arrangements\, which vary in style from fiercely energetic to meditative and peaceful. To date\, they have released one studio album\, “Storyteller”\, which received a 4.5 rating from “All About Jazz”\, one live EP\, “Emotional Machines: Live in San Francisco”\, which catalogues tracks their second week-long run at the Black Cat Jazz Club in San Francisco. Music had always produced visual sensations for me alongside the aural\, and upon learning what Synesthesia was\, my human experience and life assignment suddenly snapped into focus\, and finally made sense.  \n \nIt is my hope and intention that this body of work broadens the perspective of the viewer as it invites them to reimagine the typical\, re-examine the way we process stimuli\, and experience the familiar through a new lens.”

DESCRIPTION:Jazz Record Art Collective presents  Danstrom/Wahl/Sudhibhasilp Trio  performing Paul Motian’s 1992 release MOTIAN IN TOKYO .\n\n\nThe show is on Tuesday\, March 1st at Fulton Street Collective and will feature live painting from visual artist TBA \n“Drummer Paul Motian led an intriguing trio throughout the 1980s… The group (which also included guitarist Bill Frisell and tenor saxophonist Joe Lovano) was potentially sparse\, but Frisell’s wide range of effects and sounds generally kept the absence of a keyboard and a bass from being too noticeable.
