SUMMARY:Mindful Gazing Workshop with Alicja Seledec
DESCRIPTION:Learn how to have conversation around artwork in a non-judgmental space: interact\, sketch\, converse (bring your sketchbook!)\n\n\nThis interactive workshop is designed to slow down the way we see\, inviting participants to engage with art meaningfully and personally. Through guided observation\, conversation\, and drawing\, we will explore how perception shapes our experience of art. In a calm\, reflective atmosphere\, we will take the time to truly see—not just look—at selected works in the Fulton Street Collective gallery. Together\, we will share insights\, interpretations\, and visual responses\, fostering a richer connection to both the art and each other’s perspectives. \n– No prior artistic experience is needed—just curiosity and a willingness to engage \n– Bring your sketchbooks or just paper and pencil \n-Led by: Alicja Seledec Time: Sunday\, March 9th\, 2025 at Location: 1821 W. Hubbard Lofts unit #307 \nFor questions contact seledecalicja@gmail.com !

SUMMARY:John Coltrane's BOTH DIRECTIONS AT ONCE Performed Live @ JRAC
DESCRIPTION:Jazz Record Art Collective presents Daniel Chavez Quartet performing John Coltrane’s 1963 recording BOTH DIRECTIONS AT ONCE Wed. Mar. 5 @FSC\n\n\nThe evening will feature live painting from visual artist TBA. \n \n“On March 6\, 1963\, John Coltrane\, along with pianist McCoy Tyner\, bassist Jimmy Garrison\, and drummer Elvin Jones – the line-up that would go on to make the peerless A Love Supreme – recorded an entire studio album at Van Gelder Studios\, New Jersey. \nAt the end of the session\, Coltrane left with a reference tape and brought it home. These tapes remained untouched for the next five decades  (the mastertapes however are lost) until Impulse! approached the family about finally releasing it…..It is not an overstatement by the great Sonny Rollins\, to say its rediscovery is “like finding a new room in the Great Pyramid”\, for this captures saxophonist Coltrane at a cross-roads of invention\, still exploring the modal jazz he was working within during that period\, but also containing early indications\, sometimes overtly strong\, of the ‘free jazz’ that was to come.” \n~Kernan Andrews \n \nDaniel Chavez\, Sax \nJoaquin Garcia\, Piano \nJoshua Ramos\, Bass \nClif Wallace\, Drums \n \n7pm Doors \n7:30pm Show  \n$15 Suggest Donation \nFREE PARKING

With a passion for both painting and photography\, Tiffani explores a range of styles\, including abstract expressionism and conceptual works centered around mannequins. The work delves into themes of spirituality\, the connection between mind\, body\, and soul\, and the timeless beauty of nature\, fashion\, and the female form. \n  \nFor over seventeen years\, Tiffani has shared this passion as a dedicated art teacher\, working to bring creativity and self-expression into the lives of students of all ages. In addition to teaching\, Tiffani hosts art events that foster connection and creative exploration\, believing that art can bring people closer to understanding themselves and the world around them. \n  \nThough Tiffani has taken formal art courses in college\, much of their artistic journey has been shaped by self-teaching and a deep desire to experiment with new techniques and mediums. This independent approach allows for a constantly evolving practice that remains fresh and inspired. \n  \nTiffani’s work has been featured at various Chicago venues\, including Fulton Street Collective\, Royal Grocer & Co.\, the Pilsen Art Walk\, and Around The Coyote\, contributing to the city’s vibrant arts community. \n  \nThrough each piece\, Tiffani aims to evoke emotions\, provoke thought\, and remind viewers of the beauty and depth in both the ordinary and the extraordinary. DESCRIPTION:Fulton Street Collective presents SOM BRASIL Celebrating the Music of Brazil and Breno Sauer on Monday\, December 16th at 8pm\n\n\nThe evening will feature live painting from visual artist TBA. \n \nBreno and Neusa Sauer moved from Brasil to Mexico in the 60s and then to Chicago in the 80s and formed Som Brasil in 1985. They began working at the Jazz Bulls\, the Green Mill and many other clubs hiring such great local musicians like Ron Dewar\, Kelly Sill\, Akio Sasajima\, Paulinho Garcia\, Phil Gratteau\, Dede Sempaio\, Geraldo de Oliveira\, Peter O’Neil\, Luiz Ewerling\, etc. Breno’s unique playing and arranging style alongside Neusa’s exemplary vocal talents plus the addition of Chicago’s great jazz talent gave the band a special sound. \nWe are creating this new band to not only pay homage to Breno’s unique style but to add to it. We are so happy and honored to work with one of the founding members of the original band – the dynamic vocalist Neusa Sauer – as well as two former full time members – Luiz Ewerling and Peter O’Neil (who now lives in Rio de Janeiro). \nSteve Million – keysNeusa Sauer – vocalsLuciano Antonio – guitar and vocalsPeter O’Neil – woodwinds \nMarcel Bonfim – bassLuiz Ewerling – drums \n \n7:30pm Doors8pm ShowIn-Person Only$15 Suggest DonationFREE PARKING
