Super Flower Blood Moon is a 14-piece Chicago ensemble that bridges the gap between orchestral jazz and cinematic art-pop. Led by composer Joel Caracci and featuring some of Chicago’s most talented improvisers, the group combines strings, woodwinds, brass, and percussion to deconstruct the boundaries between the sonic worlds of Charles Mingus, Gil Evans, Debussy, Erykah Badu, and M83. This is “Third Stream” music for the 21st century: lush, rhythmic, and sonically massive.
