ABOUT

Art gallery chicago

Founded in 2002 by singer-songwriters Anna Fermin and Joe Lanasa, the Fulton Street Collective grew out of a small rehearsal room in the corner of a print-shop business.

Today Fulton Street Collective features 28 private artists studios and a beautiful gallery exhibition and event space. FSC members work in a variety of disciplines including painting, sculpture, mixed media, photography, digital media, dance, and fashion design.

MISSION

mission of chicago art gallery fulton street collective

Fulton Street Collective is dedicated to the development of artists and the artistic community. Our intention is to provide all the elements an artist needs to develop their careers.

This includes private and shared work spaces, an exhibition and performance space, rich and diverse programming, an active network of publication and social media communications, and the ability to present and sell art both within the four walls of our space and online.

TEAM

JOE LANASA

I am one of the founding members, and the current director of the Fulton Street Collective. I created FSC in late 2002, along with my amazingly talented friend, Anna Fermin. Our original vision still holds true to today, which is to host a community of creative, talented people, and give them the resources they need to support and cultivate their art so that they can enrich the lives of others and become part of the greater community.

I am also a street poet, songwriter, and rock musician singer and guitarist, performing in mostly Chicago-area clubs for over ten years now. My musical influences include a crazy blend of brilliant performers, including Jim Morrison, Bob Dylan, Scott Momenthy, Iggy Pop, early Springsteen, Marty Robbins, Elvis, Van Morrison, and Bob Marley.

CHRIS ANDERSON

Chris Anderson is the operations manager for Fulton Street Collective. He is an experienced business manager and promoter by day, passionate musician by night. An avid drummer, Chris has been integrated in the music scene of Chicago for decades promoting shows, attending them, and playing for them. He’s worked for non-profits, restaurants, and clubs all over the city. He can often be seen at Fulton Street Collective events, working hard behind the scenes to exemplify the very best FSC has to offer.

Chris was recently awarded the Irma Pickens Outstanding Jazz Advocate Award by the Chicago Jazz Institute in honor of his many contributions to the world of music and culture.

Born in St. Louis, Chris grew up in Albuquerque, New Mexico, graduated from Ithaca University in New York, but never really left Chicago!

DAIL KIRKPATRICK

Dail Kirkpatrick is the Director of Artist Member Services and Curator for the Fulton Street Gallery. She provides support for the artists and is the primary source for communication between Fulton Street Collective and each and all artists. She works tirelessly to ensure each artist feels welcomed, supported, and valued. She is also responsible for Second Friday Gallery Opening and individual art showings.

Dail is an abstract artist working in a variety of mediums in her Chicago based studio. Her work explores how color impacts and interacts with emotion. Using organic and familiar shapes paired with lines, colors, and textures, Dail mostly works intuitively letting one mark, shape, or color influence the next. She also works with repetition and multiples to find the subtle variations that can happen within them. Dail hopes to create an emotional connection with the viewer that sparks their youthfulness, vibrance, playfulness, and curiosity.
