Nicole “Nikki” Van Dyken
Biographical Info Nicole Van Dyken is an interdisciplinary artist based in Chicago. Creating art since she was a child, Nicole received many accolades throughout her schooling for artistic achievement. In 2013 after a career in Human Resources Management, Nicole made the decision to become a stay at home mom. This allowed her to rekindle her passion and dedication to art. In 2018, Nicole achieved her goal of being accepted as an exhibitor at ArtPrize, a 19 day international art competition in Grand Rapids MI, which was great in getting her name out as an emerging artist. She is now a 6-time ArtPrize artist. Nicole was also accepted into the 2024 Annual Black Creativity Art Exhibition at The Griffin Museum of Science & Industry Chicago and is a City of Chicago DCASE 2025 Artist Grant winner. Nicole enjoys using a wide variety of mediums and techniques including pen stippling, paint, pastels, pencil and even digital collage. Nicole’s artwork is along the lines of surrealism and is often inspired by music, trauma or growth.
