Erika Aleksaite

Biographical Info I am an interdisciplinary artist who explores thought as the origin of the self – how our inner structures shape perception, identity and transformation. Through ink, text and abstract form, I attempt to translate mental and emotional states into visual language. My work brings together visual art, music and philosophy to explore the layers of thought, the structures of emotion and the formation of the self. For many years, I have been deeply engaged with philosophy and psychology, with a particular focus on the complexity of the human mind, self-knowledge and inner discipline. Influenced by the ideas of Friedrich Nietzsche, Carl Jung, and Zen Buddhist thought, I explore how thought arises, fragments and transforms – and how this process shapes our understanding of who we are. Language plays an important role in my work. Through studying the structures and etymology of multiple languages, I came to see thought as something that exists beyond any single linguistic system. In my work, fragmented words and traces of language appear not as communication, but as visual manifestations of thought itself. Music is central to how I see and construct visual form. As a composer, I approach line, space, and composition through rhythm, harmony and contrast. This relationship between sound and form continues to inform my abstract work.
