Hayley Shaw
Biographical Info Chicago-based artist Hayley Shaw blends a diverse background with a deep appreciation for texture and decay. Originally from Lake Tahoe, she studied communications at the University of Georgia before building a finance career in Seattle and Los Angeles. During the pandemic, she rediscovered her passion for art, transforming a creative pastime into a full-time pursuit. Now based in Chicago, her mixed-media work captures the quiet history of the city through layered, timeworn compositions. Incorporating plaster, fabric, collage, and unconventional materials like coffee grounds, salt, and bleach, her pieces evoke urban erosion and transience. Influenced by graffiti and the slow unraveling of built environments, her abstractions balance presence and disappearance, permanence and imperfection.
