Biographical Info I attended Evanston Township High School, then attended Harvard University where I concentrated in History and Literature of France and America in the modern era and graduated with honors. Then, I attended the University of Chicago and earned an M.A. in social science. Finally, I attended Stanford University where I graduated with an M.A. and a Ph.D. in anthropology. Since then, I have refocused my energies on science, attended two years of medical school in Chicago, and re-entered teaching in the field of STEM since Covid. I currently teach at ETHS; run a tutoring website at ivyleaguetutor.net, and tutor on a separate online platform as well. I began doing art in 2014 during a leave I took from medical school. I began learning landscape painting namely because I wanted to paint outdoors. I initially took classes and then quickly switched over to an open studio. I learned techniques in color, gradation, gesture, shadows and light, and more. I picked up further techniques in abstract painting and aim to combine concrete subjects in landscape, architecture, and portraits with abstract techniques.

Location Chicago
Short Description My background in art stems from a nature-nurture combination where my maternal grandmother and my paternal grandfather had both artistic talent and technical skills. My grandmother painted porcelain, glassware, and even made painted glass eggs. My grandfather built cabinets, and he had such a precise eye, he could judge lengths, widths, and heights without taking measurements. I believe I have inherited artistic and technical traits from each grandparent and turned my eye to training in landscape painting. I began learning color theory, gesture, form, shading, and more. Now, I paint landscapes, abstract art, portraits, architecture, and more. This past fall, I even tried my hand at “live art” sketching live jazz scenes at FSC. Join us next time!
