Sara Ditchman
Biographical Info Sara is a Sculptor and Illustrator hailing from the western suburbs of the Chicagoland Area. After receiving her BFA From the University of Wisconsin, Platteville she now operates out of a studio space in the West Loop. With a focus on material transformation, her sculptural work seeks to explore and challenge materials through an intuitive and playful process. Taking something soft like fabric and turning it into an unrecognizable dry husk. Uniting unexpected materials like lace and intestine. Individual elements are assembled into fragile, grotesque, feminine, surreal textile landscapes. Through her artwork, she seeks to generate curiosity, honor transformation and draw attention to the beauty within the unrecognizable. As a freelance illustrator, she works on a wide breadth of projects from promotional marketing material for small businesses, textile prints, children’s book illustrations and mural design and installation.
