Tom Humrickhouse
Biographical Info I am a self taught painter currently residing in Chicago. Sometimes the boldest statements are the simplest ones. My work lives at the intersection of city energy and wild places—balancing the pulse of Chicago’s art scene with the quiet awe of Alaska’s wilderness. Whether I’m painting the rhythm of a jazz artist lost in the moment or the stillness of a forgotten tree trunk in Douglas, Alaska, I’m always chasing that spark where nature and culture collide. My creative process is rooted in exploration. I let the paint do its thing, experimenting with underpaintings, palette knives, and the delicate dance of hue, saturation, and color temperature. Each piece is a conversation—between light and shadow, memory and imagination, city and forest. I’m deeply connected to my community, both in Chicago and beyond. Sharing my work isn’t just about showing finished pieces; it’s about inviting others into the journey. I believe in the power of art to build bridges—between artists, collectors, and anyone who finds a story in a brushstroke.
