What happens when improvisation meets 19th century opera? When jazz meets Puccini? Something incredible and unique happens, giving birth to the project Puccini, My Love by the Italian duo Back-In-Time (B.I.T.).
On the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the death of Giacomo Puccini, the Italian Cultural Institute of Chicago in collaboration with Fulton Street Collective, presents the live concert Puccini, My love performed by Danielle di Majo (sax) and Manuela Pasqui (piano). The evergreen melodies of one of the most important and influential opera composers of all time tie to the sensitivity of two modern improvisers. The concert is a tribute to Puccini, an avant-garde composer who, at the turn of two centuries, represented the Italian Opera.

Danielle di Majo and Manuela Pasqui have been performing musical duos since 2019. From the beginning, they had a special connection thanks to shared artistic objectives that inspired their “musical research”. In this formation, they have already recorded two albums for Filibusta Record’s, in 2021 and 2023. The duo’s first Back-in-Time (B.I.T.) album was based on a new interpretation of material from classical repertoires and original songs. Their intention was to build their own personal sound and lyricism, as well as develop a shared musical language. Their second album is an exclusive collection of original tunes. It provides fertile ground for the two instrumentalists to deepen their melodic expression and the art of dialectic interaction between two musical instruments. It is the result of continuous and profound research, both in composition and improvisation.
