Fulton Street Collective presents a two-set performance with Rob Clearfield’s “Ashes and Diamonds” on Friday, April 15 at 8pm
The evening will feature live painting from visual artist Tamara Wasserman.
Chicago-born, Marseille-based pianist and composer Rob Clearfield returns home to premier the brand-new composition “Ashes and Diamonds.” This multi-movement work is Clearfield’s most ambitious composition project to date, drawing formal inspiration from the large-scale works of Ben Monder and Tyshawn Sorey. Blurring the lines between contemporary classical and modern-jazz vocabularies and paradigms, “Ashes and Diamonds” is a reflection on the challenges and divisions brought forth by the current pandemic.
