Lily McCann and Marykate Mosher, both promising young musicians hailing from the western suburbs of Chicago, combine their shared passion for artistic excellence and social consciousness to present an evening of arrangements and compositions highlighting the voices of women and other marginalized composers.

Lily McCann is an emerging performer on the trombone, combining discipline and hard work with a distinct tastefulness coming from her unique social perspective. Currently studying under the direction of Michael Dease, McCann has already showcased her potential after only a year at Michigan State University and continues to demonstrate her importance as a trombonist.

Marykate Mosher, a flautist and saxophonist currently under the instruction of Jonathan Keeble at the University of Illinois, has similarly proved herself as a very well-rounded musician in both the classical and jazz arts on multiple instruments after only a year of collegiate study. Her multifacetedness extends to her thoughtfulness as an arranger and composer, granting her an awareness that allows her to highlight the issues she is passionate about.

Together, McCann and Mosher have brought forth a group of like-minded musicians with the goal of highlighting the voices of a variety of composers and arrangers within the jazz sphere. With many exciting young talents taking the bandstand, this performance will be one to remember.
