A champion of the town, a booster of the back alley, a bard for the underdog, a writer who is accessible yet polarizing. Kevin Coval is an Emmy-nominated, award-winning writer, filmmaker and author of over a dozen collections & anthologies including Everyday People and Slingshots (on EM Press). His writing has been featured on/in HBO, The Daily Show, National Public Radio, The New York Times, and Source Magazine. He has been awarded grants, fellowships and residencies from the MacArthur Foundation, National Endowment for the Arts, The Kennedy Center. Coval has served as an Executive Creative Director in both corporate and non-profit spaces, and is writing screenplays trying to make Chicago a haven for independent film.
