Across genre, Chicago artist Kevin Coval is an inheritor of storytelling traditions, capturing ideas and poems of the city in flux. A champion of the town, a booster of the back alley, a bard for the underdog, a writer who is accessible yet polarizing. Come celebrate summer in the city with new and selected works and raise a glass and ear to the greatest city in the world.

Kevin Coval is an Emmy-nominated, award-winning writer, filmmaker and author of over a dozen collections & anthologies including Everyday People and Slingshots (on EM Press). His writing has been featured on/in HBO, The Daily Show, National Public Radio, The New York Times, and Source Magazine. He has been awarded grants, fellowships and residencies from the MacArthur Foundation, National Endowment for the Arts, The Kennedy Center. Coval has served as an Executive Creative Director in both corporate and non-profit spaces, and is writing screenplays trying to make Chicago a haven for independent film.
